Following our second snow day, please review the information in this post and follow these instructions.

What you should know:

Our next essay assignment is posted in the course documents page of this weblog. Review it and consider which response interests you. You may begin planning a draft, but at the very least, you should have a thesis statement prepared when you arrive to class on Monday. We will begin writing during the class period. If you get far enough to have a partial draft with you, I will be able to give you feedback on it in class. Otherwise, I will check your thesis and you can begin writing.

What you should do:

Please review the essay question options and choose one. Write a preliminary thesis statement and bring it to class with you.

For section 08 (Mon/Wed 1:00):

I will hand out the new assignment schedule for weeks 6-10 on Monday, but you may download the document from the course documents page any time. I will return any graded essays on Monday. We will also conclude the film and begin discussing the readings on Monday.

For section 05 (MWF 9:00):

I will hand out the new assignment schedule for weeks 6-10 on Friday (assuming we have class!). We will conclude the film and then begin discussing the reading material and the next essay. If school ends up being canceled on Friday, please return to this weblog for updates!

Important Update: Snow Day and Essay Revision instructions

Well, surprisingly, we got a snow day! That means we won’t be able to have our writing workshop that was scheduled for today, Wednesday, February 10. IMPORTANT: For students in the MW 1:00 section (08), if you gave me your paper late, you can pick it up from my office door Thursday or Friday. For everyone else in Sections 08 or 05, revisions are due next Friday, February 19th.  I will hand back drafts with my comments to the MWF class this Friday. For anyone who would like to go over a draft with me, let me know, and we can set up a time. Otherwise, apply the guidelines offered in my comments and revise as carefully and as thoroughly as you can.
