You can find the LMS Monthly Report for September 2019 here.

Sorry for the continued market slowdown drumbeat, but the September numbers continue to indicate lower levels of activity than what we saw in the fall and spring. Keep in mind that implementation dates where we know the year but not the month are allocated to June 1, meaning that we tend to see step functions in the data during that month. By looking at the T12M by implementation date over time, after this summer (three months) we seem to have a further reduction in activity.

If we look at First Seen data (more of a leading indicator), however, the T12M data for September (123 total) is lower than June 2019 (138) but higher than July 2019 (114), or August 2019 (120).

We continue to see the results of a strong summer for D2L Brightspace, with T3M First Seen lead over Canvas of 17 – 12. Some of the significant wins for D2L recently include Purdue University (some of this was entered in dataset in previous months), the Community College system of Maine (the majority of the August First Seen data for them), and the University System of Maine (data entered in September).

Jeanette is currently at the Instructure CanvasCon in Barcelona (tough job, I know), getting a better feel for EMEA activity and sentiment. I plan to attend the first Global MoodleMoot, also in Barcelona, in November. We plan to share updates from these visits in the future.

As always, let us know if you have any questions or comments.

Thanks!

Sincerely,
